Charlie's Story
In this interview, Charlie shared the inspiring journey of someone who turned a personal passion into a thriving microenterprise — creating natural health and beauty products for people and pets.
It all started with an idea for boutique dog soaps, born from a personal challenge of finding meaningful work. Charlie loved crafting products from scratch, experimenting with soaps, skincare, beard oils, shower steamers and tattoo balms, all designed with intention, sustainability, and quality in mind.
Even with a strong vision, running a business wasn’t easy. Charlie faced challenges ranging from complex regulations to the ups and downs of market events. That’s where The RED Group made a difference. By providing practical guidance, hands-on support, and access to a community of like-minded entrepreneurs, RED helped Charlie turn ideas into a plan, and a plan into action.
Together, they explored product development, branding, marketing strategies, and the best ways to reach customers — from local markets to retail stores and an online shop. Charlie also learned the value of teamwork, bringing in advisors and helpers to fill gaps in social media, business processes, and quality control.
Through this collaborative, flexible approach, Charlie:
Developed a diverse range of products for both people and pets.
Built a reputation and presence across local markets and stores.
Learned to balance creativity, salesmanship, and practical business skills.

Charlie’s story shows what real, supportive entrepreneurship looks like:
Purpose-driven creation — designing products with intention and sustainability.
Teamwork — recognising personal strengths and seeking help where needed.
Persistence — testing ideas, attending markets, and growing steadily.
RED’s role in this journey was to provide:
- A safe and supportive environment for trying new ideas.
- Practical coaching in business skills, networking, and planning.
- Connections to mentors and a wider entrepreneurial community.
Most importantly, RED helped make the journey possible — turning a passion for crafting high-quality products into a sustainable microenterprise that enriches the local community.
